eG Innovations enhances business performance monitoring and root-cause diagnosis through its integration of Tevron’s CitraTest with the eG Suite
September 13, 2004- Iselin, New Jersey :
eG Innovations, Inc. a leading provider of IT infrastructure performance monitoring and management solutions announced today that it has integrated Tevron’s CitraTest user emulation technology with its eG service monitoring and proactive infrastructure triage suite. eG’s integration of Tevron’s CitraTest allows IT administrators to record typical user accesses to mission-critical IT infrastructure services, and to later have eG agents periodically playback the recorded accesses to emulate real user transactions and monitor the availability and response times for typical user accesses. By comparing the response times across each of the steps of a multi-step service access, administrators can detect the exact step(s) that could be causing user-visible slowdowns. Furthermore, using its patented auto-triage capability, the eG suite is able to correlate the end-to-end service performance indicators provided by CitraTest with critical indicators of network, system, and application availability, performance, and usage to pin-point where the root-cause of a slow-down lies. Customers can use the combined solution to improve the quality of their service offerings, thereby enhancing their competitive positioning, lowering their operations costs, and optimizing the usage of their infrastructure.
By acting as “virtual human user”, CitraTest is able to detect, evaluate, measure, and respond to the on-screen activity based on the model contained in the script that is generated when the user activity is recorded. Since it deploys a completely dynamic image verification methodology to interact with target application services, CitraTest is uniquely qualified to test Web-based and non Web services.
“We found CitraTest to be a very robust, powerful, and cost-effective solution for monitoring real user accesses to mission-critical services. Its ability to monitor applications running in any Citrix/Terminal services environment, and be able to emulate the complete user activity – from login to launching and accessing applications within a terminal services environment – is very critical for our customers who are interested in knowing which step(s) in the user access are seeing slowdowns,” said Tim Clark, Vice President of Sales of eG Innovations. Metrics collected by eG agents in real-time by invoking CitraTest on target IT services are compared with time-of-day, auto-generated or administrator-defined, fixed thresholds to determine times when users could be experiencing slowdowns.
The integration of CitraTest allows the eG suite to provide true service monitoring for Web-based and non-Web based services, including those that involve client/server or legacy applications. “As IT infrastructures evolve into being business-critical, high availability and peak performance of the IT infrastructure is becoming as critical as reliability is to a telephone network. Many solutions provide silo-based monitoring, with different point solutions for the specific domains. These loosely coupled solutions make it difficult to diagnose and resolve problems. The eG suite takes a service-oriented view to monitoring and diagnosis, and the integration of true user emulation capability into our suite further augments the unique capability and advantages of this suite for IT infrastructures where end-to-end availability and peak performance of the infrastructure are critical for the success of the business services that operate over it”, said Tim Clark.
“Through the combination of CitraTest and the eG suite, Tevron’s customer base and enterprises across the world can now accurately measure the total End To End performance of any and every application and then identify the root cause for performance problem areas quickly and efficiently. Tevron looks forward to working closely with eG Innovations in jointly providing this unique and all encompassing APM and Root Cause performance analysis enterprise solution,” said Jay Labadini, Vice President of Business Development, Tevron (www.tevron.com).
