Getronics implements eG Enterprise Monitoring Suite for
Singapore’s Public Service Division
Aug 4, 2006 - Getronics and eG Innovations announced today that they have successfully completed the implementation of the eG Enterprise Monitoring Suite for Singapore’s Public Service Division of the Prime Minister’s Office to monitor over 40 servers and more than 6,000 sets of statistics.
The project included consultancy, installation and configuration, and was completed in less than four weeks.
The Public Service Division hosts a mission-critical human resource application on SAP. The solution offers service-level reporting and correlating the end user experience with hundreds of metrics being collected from the servers, applications, and network devices within the infrastructure.
"The eG Enterprise Suite is ideal for the monitoring needs of enterprises and service providers that are deploying mission-critical applications such as SAP, Domino, Web, and others. Our universal agent technology, which provides a single agent for all applications and operating systems, is ideal for complex and heterogeneous environments, greatly reducing the overall cost and simplifying management,” said Tan Chong Hui, head of Regional Sales with eG Innovations.
Furthermore, our 100 per cent web architecture ensures that IT managers can remotely monitor their infrastructure from anywhere, using a secure connection through the Internet, he said.
The implementation allows proactive monitoring of every layer of tiered infrastructure, including the network, operating system, databases, and applications from a single Web interface. With the eGEnterprise root-cause diagnosis engine in place, the root-cause of performance issues can be more easily identified. Rapid problem identification ensures high uptime of mission-critical services and better utilisation of the underlying IT infrastructure.
Proactive alerts are sent via SMS to administrators’ mobile phones, or via email messages, so that they can remain informed of the status of their critical infrastructure at all times. The alerting is personalised so that administrators are informed of problems, based on the roles and responsibilities assigned to them.
Daily, weekly or monthly reports are automatically generated and sent to the appropriate operations and management staff, so that the quality of service being delivered can be monitored and effective capacity planning performed.
Said Henry Sison, Getronics' director of Business Solutions, “Getronics hopes to continue playing a role in helping government agencies in Singapore and the region operate better and heighten service levels delivered to citizens and business communities.”
