But that doesn\u2019t mean ALL layer models are dead. In fact, a layer model remains an easy way to quickly understand the complexities associated with application performance management.<\/p>\n<p>Designed as an aid to developing network protocols, the 7-layer model was never intended to be cast in stone \u2013 new layers could be added. The layered representation made it easier to understand how data flowed through a system using various protocols.<\/p>\n<div class=\"frm-cta\"><a class=\"frm-cta-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eginnovations.com\/demo\/converged-monitoring\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Watch Demo: Converged Application &amp; Infrastructure Monitoring \u00bb<\/a><\/div>\n<p>But eG Enterprise\u2019s layer models are not <em>literally<\/em> ISO 7-layer models. Rather, they use the layer model concept as a guide to quickly understand and isolate where issues are occurring.
