How to Monitor Citrix Content Collaboration using eG Enterprise?

eG Enterprise monitors the Citrix Content Collaboration in an agentless manner. All that is required for this is an eG agent that is deployed on a Windows host in your environment. The eG agent connects to Content Collaboration REST API to pull out a wide range of performance statistics related to the health of the Content Collaboration service. To access the API, the eG agent has to be configured with the email ID and password of a Content Collaboration user who is vested with ‘Admin’ privileges. You can configure the email ID and password of such a user while configuring the tests in the Specific Test Configuration page after you added the Citrix Content Collaboration component for monitoring. To add a Citrix Content Collaboration component using the admin interface and configure the tests, do the following:

Adding Citrix Content Collaboration

eG Enterprise cannot auto-discover the Citrix Content Collaboration. This implies that you will need to add a Citrix Content Collaboration component manually. Remember that components manually added are managed automatically.

  1. Log into the eG administrative interface.
  2. Click on the Add Component button in the right corner of the Components at a Glance page that appeared or follow the Infrastructure -> Components -> Add/Modify menu sequence.

  3. The Components page will then appear. In the Components page, select Citrix Content Collaboration as the Component type and click the Add New Component button.

  4. Figure 1 will then appear.

  5. Specify the Host IP and the Nick name of the Citrix Content Collaboration in Figure 1. Also set the Agentless flag to Yes, select Other as the OS and Web Service as the Mode. Then click the Add button to register the changes.
  6. Next, select the External agent that will monitor the target Citrix Content Collaboration component.

  7. Finally, click the Add button to register the changes.

  8. Once the Citrix Content Collaboration component is added successfully, you will be again redirected to the Components page (see Figure 2). Using the options provided in the Components page, you can modify, unmanage or delete the newly added component. In addition, you can also configure the tests, set thresholds and maintenance policies, and change the IP address.

  9. To collect the performance metrics, you may need to manually configure the tests that are mapped to the Citrix Content Collaboration component. To configure the tests that need manual configuration, click on the icon in Figure 2. This will lead you to the Specific Test Configuration page where the unconfigured tests for the Citrix Content Collaboration componet will be listed in the UNCONFIGURED TESTS list box.

  10. Now, click on any test to configure it. To know how to configure the tests, refer to the Monitoring Cisco Routers document. To view the performance metrics, switch to the Monitor tab.
