Managing VMware Horizon Identity Manager

The VMware Horizon Identity Manager can be automatically discovered by eG Enterprise. An eG agent deployed on the VMware Horizon Connection Server is capable of discovering the target VMware Horizon Identity Manager. Therefore, administrators can either auto-discover the VMware Horizon Identity Manager in their environment or manually add the VMware Horizon Identity Manager.

To manage the VMware Horizon Identity Manager that is automatically discovered, follow the steps below:

  1. Login to the eG admin interface.
  2. If the component is yet to be discovered, then, run discovery (Infrastructure -> Components -> Discovery).
  3. To manage an already discovered component, follow the menu sequence: Infrastructure -> Components -> Manage/Unmanage/Delete.
  4. Figure 1 and Figure 2 clearly illustrate the process of managing a VMware Horizon Identity Manager.

  5. Next, sign out of the eG administrative interface.

To add the VMware Horizon Identity Manager manually to eG Enterprise, follow the steps below:

  1. Follow the Components -> Add/Modify menu sequence in the Infrastructure tile of the Admin menu.
  2. Next, select VMware Horizon Identity Manager from the Component type drop-down and then click the Add New Component button.
  3. When Figure 3 appears, provide the Host IP/Name of the VMware Horizon Identity Manager that you want to manage.

  4. Then, provide a Nick name for the component.
  5. The Port number will be set as 443 by default. If the target VMware Horizon Identity Manager is listening on a different port in your environment, then override this default setting.

  6. The Agentless flag is enabled by default, as 'agentless' is the default monitoring approach for the VMware Horizon Identity Manager.

  7. Do not disturb the default settings of the OS, Mode, Authentication type drop-down lists.

  8. The port number for secure shell access has to be specified against Remote port field. By default, 22 is the port at which the target VMware Horizon Identity Manager listens.

  9. Provide a valid User name and Password using which the SSH connection to the target VMware Horizon Identity Manger is to be established.

  10. Pick a remote agent from the Remote agent list box.

  11. Pick an external agent from the External agents list box and click the Add button to add the component for monitoring.
