Disk Smart Status - OS Test
Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology (SMART) is an automatic monitoring and failure detection system for hard drives (HDDs) and solid-state drives (SSDs). This system is designed to alert you to any issues it finds. Tracking SMART status of the disk drives helps administrators to detect various reliability indicators to anticipate impending hardware failures. The identified indicators alert administrators of potential drive failures so that they can take remedial steps to avoid data loss and replace failed drives to preserve data integrity. The Disk Smart Status - OS test helps administrators in this regard!
This test monitors disk partitions of the disk drives on the PCs, and reports the SMART status of each disk partition. If the status is reported as "Degraded" or "Pred-Fail", it indicates that the disk drive is showing early signs of failure whereas the disk drive may still be operational but it is highly likely to fail soon. In such cases, administrators should initiate necessary actions (for example, copying all important files and documents to a safe location (external drive, cloud, or another system) before the disk drive completely fails.
Target of the test : A Windows 365 Cloud PCs Group
Agent deploying the test : A remote agent
Outputs of the test : One set of results for every combination of cloudPCname:disk drives:disk_partition
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
|
Test Period |
How often should the test be executed. |
|
Host |
The nick name of the Windows 365 Cloud PCs Group component for which this test is to be configured. |
|
Port |
Refers to the port at which the specified host listens to. By default, this is NULL. |
|
Report By User |
If this flag is set to Yes (which is the default setting), then the 'inside view' tests will report measures for even those Cloud PCs that do not have any users logged in currently. Such PCs will be identified by their name and not by the username_on_CloudPCName. On the other hand, if this flag is set to No, then this test will not report measures for those Cloud PCs to which no users are logged in currently. |
|
Report Powered OS |
This flag is set to Yes by default. The value of this flag cannot be changed. This implies that the Cloud PCs in environments will always be identified using the login name of the user. In other words, this test will, by default, report measures for every username_on_CloudPCName. |
| Measurement | Description | Measurement Unit | Interpretation | ||||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
|
Operational status |
Indicates the current operational status of this disk. |

The values that this measure can report and their corresponding numeric values are discussed in the table above:
Note: By default, this measure reports the Measure Values listed in the table above. In the graph of this measure however, the value of this measure is represented using their numeric equivalents only. |
