Monitoring Apache Flume

eG Enterprise offers a special-purpose monitoring model for the Memcached caching system to monitor the status and overall performance of the target Memcached caching system.

Figure 1 depicts the layer model of an Memcached.

Figure 1 : Layer model of Memcached caching system

Memcached Layer in the Figure 1 is mapped to various tests to determine the critical statistics related to the performance of the target Memcached caching system. Using the metrics reported by the tests, administrators can find accurate answers for the following performance queries:

  • Are the number of connections used optimal?

  • Are there too many cache get misses?

  • Is the number of get hits percentage within the tolerance limits?

  • Are the unused items getting evicted from the cache?

  • Is the cache fill percentage very high trending towards limit?

  • Is the maximum channel capacity configured as per amount of data flowing?

  • Is the rate at which data is read from the cache, optimal?

  • Is the rate at which data is written to cache, within the tolerance limit?

  • Are there too many connections established with cache which are reading and writing?
