Monitoring Citrix SD-WAN

Citrix SD-WAN is an all-in-one service and application delivery solution that accelerates application performance, increases application availability and improves application security. eG Enterprise offers a special-purpose monitoring model for the Citrix SD-WAN appliance to monitor the components of the Citrix SD-WAN. Abnormal traffic flows can be instantly detected using this monitored model. This way, administrators are proactively alerted to issues so that they can initiate remedial actions well before users complain.

Figure 1 : The Citrix SD-WAN monitoring model

Each layer of Figure 1 is mapped to tests pull out a wealth of performance information related to the appliance. These metrics reveal the following:

  • How many days are lef t for the target appliance's license to expire?

  • Is any access interface handled heavy packet/data traffic?

  • What is the current status of an Ethernet port?

  • Is any Ethernet port encountered more number of errors?

  • Is any path link connecting the datacenter and branch in Bad/Dead state?

  • What is the percentage of packets lost during transmission over each path link?

  • Is any routing IP address not reachble/eligible for establising connections?

  • Is any virtual path in Bad/Dead state?

  • Is there any time delay while transmitting/receiving the packets through each virtual path?

  • How many packets were dropped per second while transmitting and receiving the packets using the Passthrough service?

  • Which IP address (stored in the ARP table) has received the response via ARP protocol with significant delay?

  • What is the amount of data/number of packets dropped during the data transmission between the LAN and WAN based on each QoS policy?

  • Which application consumed more bandwidth while receiving or transmitting data via the target appliance?
