The DB2 Instance Layer
Besides monitoring the availability of DB2 UDB databases, critical instance level measurements relating to the usage and responsiveness of each instance can be obtained on an on-going basis by an eG agent. This layer tracks the instance level measures of the DB2 UDB database server with the aid of the Db2Instance test (see Figure 1). In Figure 1, the Db2Instance test is used to monitor a specific instance called db2inst1 of the target DB2 database.
