HPE StoreOnce Memory Test

Abnormally high usage of physical or swap memory can cause resource contention, which can in turn lead to the piling up of backup jobs in the appliance. To avoid this, it is very crucial to keep an eye on the memory utilization of the appliance. This test helps you with the same.

This test monitors the current memory utilization of the target backup appliance and promptly alerts the administrators to any possible memory contention.

Target of the test : HPE StoreOnce Backup 4.x

Agent deploying the test : A remote agent

Outputs of the test : One set of results for the HPE StoreOnce Backup 4.x appliance being monitored.

Configurable parameters for the test
Parameters Description

Test Period

How often should the test be executed.

Host

The host for which the test is to be configured.

Port

The port at which the host is listening. By default, this is set to Null.

Username and Password

By default, the eG agent executes REST APIs on the target HPE StoreOnce Backup 4.x appliance to collect the required metrics. For the eG agent to execute the REST APIs, a special user with an Observer role is required. Specify the credentials of such a user in the Username and Password text boxes.

Confirm Password

Confirm the password by retyping it here.

Timeout Seconds

Specify the duration (in seconds) beyond which the test will timeout in this text box. The default value is 120 seconds.

Measurements made by the test
Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation

Physical memory

Indicates the amount of physical memory allocated to the target appliance.

GB

Available memory

Indicates the amount of memory available on the target appliance.

GB

Percentage of memory usage

Indicates the percentage memory utilization by the target appliance.

Percent

A value close to 100 percent for this measure indicates that the memory resources are depleting at a faster pace. Administrators can either increase the allocation of memory resources or clean up the disks to free the memory resources.

Total swap

Indicates the total amount of swap memory available for the target appliance.

GB

An unusually high value for the swap usage can indicate a memory bottleneck.

Available swap

Indicates the amount of swap memory available on the target appliance.
