HPE StoreOnce NAS Workload Test
This test monitors the overall performance of the NAS shares attached to the target HPE StoreOnce Backup system, by reporting the I/O processing capability of the NAS shares. This test helps administrators in identifying processing bottlenecks (if any), so that the bottleneck is cleared before users complain of slowdowns. This test also reveals the files and directories that can be concurrently opened on the NAS shares.
Target of the test : HPE StoreOnce Backup
Agent deploying the test : A remote agent
Outputs of the test : One set of results for the HPE StoreOnce Backup system being monitored.
Parameters | Description |
---|---|
Test Period |
How often should the test be executed. |
Host |
The host for which the test is to be configured. |
Port |
The port at which the host is listening. By default, this is set to Null. |
Username and Password |
By default, the eG agent executes REST APIs on the target HPE StoreOnce Backup system to collect the required metrics. For the eG agent to execute the REST APIs, a special user with user role is required. Specify the credentials of such a user in the Username and Password text boxes. |
Confirm Password |
Confirm the password by retyping it here. |
Timeout Seconds |
Specify the duration (in seconds) beyond which the test will timeout in this text box. The default value is 120 seconds. |
Service Set |
A service set is a collection of services such as Virtual Tape Library(VTL), Network Attached Storage(NAS), Replication and StoreOnce Catalyst. There is one instance of each service per service set. By default, the target HPE StoreOnce Backup system is associated with a service set. Therefore, the Service Set parameter is set to 1 by default. If you are monitoring multiple HPE Storeonce Backup systems in your environment, then, specify the exact number associated with the service set that is assigned to each HPE StoreOnce Backup system that is to be monitored. |
Detailed Diagnosis |
To make diagnosis more efficient and accurate, the eG Enterprise embeds an optional detailed diagnostic capability. With this capability, the eG agents can be configured to run detailed, more elaborate tests as and when specific problems are detected. To enable the detailed diagnosis capability of this test for a particular server, choose the On option. To disable the capability, click on the Off option. The option to selectively enable/disable the detailed diagnosis capability will be available only if the following conditions are fulfilled:
|
Measurement | Description | Measurement Unit | Interpretation |
---|---|---|---|
Average read throughput |
Indicates the rate at which data was read from the NAS. |
MB/Sec |
A consistent drop in this value could indicate a gradual dip in the rate at which read requests are processed. |
Average write throughput |
Indicates the rate at which data was written to the NAS. |
MB/Sec |
A consistent drop in this value could indicate a gradual dip in the rate at which write requests are processed. |
Average concurrent open FDs |
Indicates the average number of files and directories that can be concurrently opened. |
