Exchange Queueing Test

This test monitors the different SMTP and X.400 queues on an Exchange server.

Target of the test : An Exchange server 2000/2003

Agent deploying the test : An internal agent

Outputs of the test : One set of results for the Exchange server being monitored.

Configurable parameters for the test
Parameters Description

Test Period

How often should the test be executed.

Host

The IP address of the machine where the Exchange Server is installed.

Port

The port number through which the Exchange server communicates.

DD Frequency

Refers to the frequency with which detailed diagnosis measures are to be generated for this test. The default is 1:1. This indicates that, by default, detailed measures will be generated every time this test runs, and also every time the test detects a problem. You can modify this frequency, if you so desire. Also, if you intend to disable the detailed diagnosis capability for this test, you can do so by specifying none against DD Frequency.

Messages in queue

Indicates the number of messages currently in the queue.

Number

An unusually high number of messages in the queue is indicative of any problem with the corresponding queue or its end points.

Data in queue

Indicates the amount of message data currently in the queue.
