How to Monitor the HPE Alletra Storage Using eG Enterprise?
eG Enterprise monitors the Alletra storage using an eG external agent on any remote host. The external agent periodically tracks the SNMP traps and polls the SNMP MIB of the Alletra Storage to collect critical statistics pertaining to its performance.
The broad steps for monitoring Alletra Storage using eG Enterprise are as follows:
- Managing the Alletra Storage
- Configuring the tests
These steps have been discussed in following sections.
Managing the HPE Alletra
The eG Enterprise cannot automatically discover the Alletra Storage. This implies that you need to manually add the component for monitoring. Remember that the eG Enterprise automatically manages the components that are added manually. To manage a Alletra Storage component, do the following:
-
Log into the eG administrative interface.
-
Click on the Add Component button in the right corner of the Components at a Glance page that appeared or follow the Infrastructure -> Components -> Add/Modify menu sequence.
-
In the COMPONENT page that appears next, select HPE Alletra as the Component type. Then, click the Add New Component button.
-
Specify the Host IP/Name and the Nick name of the HPE Alletra as shown in Figure 1, and click the Add button to register the changes.
-
Once the traffic node is added successfully, you will be again redirected to the Components Add/Modify page (see Figure 1). Using the options provided in the Components Add/Modify page, you can modify, unmanage or delete the newly added component. In addition, you can also configure the tests.
-
Click on any test in the list of unconfigured tests (see Figure 3).

To know how to configure the tests, refer Monitoring HPE Alletra Storage. Once the tests are configured, switch to the Monitor tab to view the metrics reported by the configured tests.
