What is Oracle Primavera?

Oracle Privamera often called Primavera P6 is a project, program and portfolio management software tool. It is used a powerful and easy to use solution for planning and managing the project work.

Primavera P6 has two main versions, Primavera P6 PPM (commonly known as Primavera P6 Professional) and Primavera P6 EPPM (Enterprise Project Portfolio Management).

Primavera P6 can be used for all sizes of projects from small to large scale capital projects. Primavera is not organization specific and it is currently being used in banking IT, healthcare,defence and government so it is suitable for any industry running a project or program. Primavera P6 Professional is a standalone project scheduling solution that is installed on individual users’ systems.

Primavera P6 EPPM is a true enterprise solution. It is fully web-based, so it runs in a browser and connects to a webserver that serves-up a visually-rich interface. The web server also connects to a main database where all of your project information is stored. This database can be Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server, which most major industries have standardized on already. Therefore it doesn’t have to be individually installed on employees’ systems. Although it is a more complex installation, most IT departments would be able to achieve it and there is plenty of external support from vendors.
