Snowflake Credit Usage by Services Test
Features that rely on Snowflake-managed compute resources appear on your bill as separate line items. Charges for these features are calculated based on the total usage of the resources (including cloud service usage) measured in compute-hours credit usage. One compute-hour is comparable to the computing resources utilized when running an X-Small virtual warehouse for an hour.
Credit charges are consumed by Snowflake services automatically and it may happen that at any point of time one of the services is performing a task which is not required, or has been configured to use much more resources than necessary. If the service activity is not monitored, these services can end up consuming much more credits than required and administrators will come to know of the unexpected charges only when they look at the bill. To avoid this situation eG the credit usage needs to be monitored in real time so that administrators can take immediate action if they see unexpected charges.
This test monitors the virtual warehouses under user account and collects metrics related to credits use by each service in real time and provides metrics like credits used by warehouse and cloud service, billing and billing rate, looking at which administrators can make a call if credit consumption is as per expectations.
Target of the test : Snowflake Database Server
Agent deploying the test : A remote agent
Outputs of the test : One set of results for each Snowflake service being monitored.
