How does eG Enterprise Monitor Solaris Virtual Server?

eG Enterprise currently offers out-of-the-box, an easy way to effectively monitor Solaris virtual server. eG Enterprise prescribes only an agent-based mechanism for monitoring a Solaris virtual server. In case of the agent-based approach, the eG agent should be deployed on the global zone. The procedure for installation is the same as installing an eG agent on a normal Solaris operating system. The steps for the same have been elaborately discussed in the eG Installation Guide.

Managing the Solaris Virtual Server

The eG Enterprise cannot automatically discover the Solaris virtual server. This implies that you need to manually add the component for monitoring. Remember that the eG Enterprise automatically manages the components that are added manually. To manage a Solaris virtual server, do the following:

  1. Log into the eG administrative interface.
  2. Follow the Components -> Add/Modify menu sequence in the Infrastructure tile of the Admin menu.
  3. In the COMPONENT page that appears next, select Solaris virtual server as the Component type. Then, click the Add New Component button. This will invoke Figure 3.
