Hard Drives Test

This test reports the current temperature and space utilization of each hard disk available in the host system. Using this test, administrators may be alerted to potential abnormalities in temperature and space crunch of the hard disk, if any.

Target of the test: Any host system

Agent executing the test: An internal agent

Output of the test: One set of results for each hard disk of the host system being monitored.

Configurable parameters for the test
Parameter Description

Test Period

How often should the test be executed.

Host

The host for which the test is to be configured.

Measurements made by the test
Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation

Temperature

Indicates the current temperature of this hard disk.

Celsius

Ideally, the value of this measure should be within prescribed limits. A sudden/gradual increase in the value of this measure may adversely affect the functioning of the server and therefore, administrators may need to attend to the issue immediately.

Physical hard disk space utilized

Indicates the percentage of space that is currently utilized by this hard disk.

Percent

A value close to 100 indicates that the hard disk is currently running out of space. Administrators may need to either free up the space or need to add more space to the hard disk to ensure smooth functioning of the server.
