HP 3PAR Storage CPG Capacity Test
A common provisioning group (CPG) creates a virtual pool of logical disks that allows virtual volumes to share the CPG's resources and allocates space on demand. A CPG allows up to 65,536 virtual volumes to share a CPG’s assigned resources. The allocated capacity of CPG includes usable space, snap space and administration space. This test periodically checks the usage of those spaces on the target storage system and proactively alerts administrators to potential storage space contentions so that, amends are made before application performance deteriorates.
Target of the test : A HP 3PAR Storage system
Agent deploying the test : A remote agent
Outputs of the test : One set of results for the storage CPG on the storage system.
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Test Period |
How often should the test be executed. |
Host |
The IP address of the Storage system. |
Port |
The port number at which the Storage system listens. The default is NULL. |
User and Password |
Specify the credentials of a user who has the right to execute API commands on the storage device and pull out metrics. To monitor the HP 3PAR Storage system, you will have to provide the credential of a user who has been assigned the Monitor role. |
Confirm Password |
Confirm the password by retyping it here. |
SSH Port |
The Secured Shell (SSH) port number at which the Storage system listens. The default is 22. |
Jar |
By default, this test uses the wbem.jar for metrics collection. This is why, the wbem option is selected by default. If you want the test to use the sblimCIMClient.jar for collecting metrics, choose the sblim option here. |
Measurement | Description | Measurement Unit | Interpretation |
---|---|---|---|
User space total |
Indicates the total user storage space of logical disks. |
TB |
|
User space used |
Indicates the used storage space of logical disks. |
TB |
Ideally, this value should be low. |
User space free |
Indicates the amount of storage space available in logical disks. |
TB |
A high value is desired for this measure. A very low value for this measure indicates a shortage of user storage space on associated logical disks. |
User space free percentage |
Indicates the percentage of storage space available in logical disks. |
Percent |
|
Snap space total |
Indicates the total snap size of logical disks. |
TB |
|

Indicates the used snap size of logical disks. |
TB |
Ideally, this value should be low. |
Snap space free |
Indicates the amount of snap size available in logical disks. |
