Monitoring Maria Database Hosted on Cloud

Previously, we elaborately discussed about the wide variety of internal metrics that the eG agent collects from the Maria Database server hosted on-premises, and how these metrics impact the internal health of the server. In this modern era where cloud computing plays a major role, most administrators are inclined towards databases offered by cloud service providers rather than investing on databases that are hosted on-premises. The database offered by cloud service providers is termed as a Managed Cloud Database Instance. These managed databases simplify the tasks associated with provisioning and maintaining a database. eG Enterprise offers to monitor the Maria Database hosted on cloud using the Maria on Cloud model (see Figure 1). To use this model, only a single eG remote agent is required; this agent sits on a remote host and collects the required metrics from the target database.

The tests associated with each layer of this model has already been explained in the previous sections.
