Managing a SAP Web Dispatcher Component

eG Enterprise cannot automatically discover the SAP Web Dispatcher. This implies that you need to manually add a SAP Web Dispatcher component for monitoring. To manage a SAP Web Dispatcher component, do the following:

  1. Log into the eG administrative interface.
  2. Click the Add Component button in the right corner of the Components at a Glance page that appeared or follow the Infrastructure -> Components -> Add/Modify menu sequence.
  3. The Components page will then appear. In the Components page, select SAP Web Dispatcher as the Component type and click the Add New Component button.

  4. Specify the Host IP/Name and Nick name of the SAP Web Dispatcher component to be monitored as shown in Figure 1. Then, click Add button to register the changes.

  5. To monitor a SAP Web Dispatcher in a High Availability setup, specify the Cluster IP of the target SAP Web Dispatcher against the Host IP/Name text box and provide a Nick name for the SAP Web Dispatcher. Ensure that you check the Agentless check box since you are allowed to monitor a SAP Web Dispatcher in a High Availability setup only in an agentless manner.

  6. Once the SAP Web Dispatcher component is added successfully, you will be redirected to the Components at a Glance (see Figure 2) page. Using the options provided in the page, you can modify, unmanage or delete the newly added component. In addition, you can also configure the tests, set thresholds and maintenance policies, and change the IP address.

  7. To collect the performance metrics, you may need to configure the tests that are mapped to the SAP Web Dispatcher component. To configure the tests that need manual configuration, click on the Configure Tests icon in Figure 2.

  8. Figure 3 then appears where the list of unconfigured tests will be listed in the UNCONFIGURED TESTS list box.

  9. Click on the test names to configure. To know about the parameters to be configured and the metrics that the tests report, refer to Monitoring the SAP Web Dispatcher chapter.
  10. Once you are done with the test configuration, you can switch to the eG monitor interface to view the metrics reported for this component.
