Blade Motherboard Intersight Test

Motherboard is most important part of the any server or any device setup as it host various components nd provide a way for components to interact with each other. Cisco Intersight manages various functions of the motherboard and allows for customization. If motherboard is not functioning well, the whole server operation will fail. This is the reason it is important to monitor the motherboard management.

This test monitors the motherboard managed by Cisco Intersight and collects teh key metrics like type of CPU, power, no of graphics cards, memory arrays etc. This test provides full information to administrators about the state and capacity of motherboard.

Target of the test : Cisco Intersight

Agent deploying the test : A remote agent

Outputs of the test : One set of results for each Blade server motherboard managed by Cisco Intersight

Configurable parameters for the test

Description

Test period

How often should the test be executed.

Host

The IP address of the Host

Port

The port number through which Cisco Intersight communicates.

API Key ID

Specify the ID for API key which is used to authenticate the eg Agent connectivity to Cisco Intersight.

API Key Filepath

Specify the filepath from where eG Agent can read the API Key.

Detailed Diagnoses

To make diagnosis more efficient and accurate, the eG Enterprise embeds an optional detailed diagnostic capability. With this capability, the eG agents can be configured to run detailed, more elaborate tests as and when specific problems are detected. To enable the detailed diagnosis capability of this test for a particular server, choose the On option. To disable the capability, click on the Off option.

The option to selectively enable/disable the detailed diagnosis capability will be available only if the following conditions are fulfilled:

  • The eG manager license should allow the detailed diagnosis capability
  • Both the normal and abnormal frequencies configured for the detailed diagnosis measures should not be 0.
Measurements made by the test

Measurement

Description

Measurement Unit

Interpretation

CPU Type

Indicates the CPU type of blade motherboard.

The State reported by this measure and their corresponding numeric equivalents are described in the table below:

State Numeric Value
Skylake 0
Cascadelake 1

Note:

By default, this measure reports the above-mentioned States while indicating the CPU type of each motherboard being managed. However, in the graph of this measure, states will be represented using their corresponding numeric equivalents only.

Detailed diagnosis of this measure provide additional details about the CPU like Model, Serial, Vendor and Revision.

Power state

Indicates the current power state of motherboard.

MB

The State reported by this measure and their corresponding numeric equivalents are described in the table below:

State Numeric Value
Down 0
Ok 1

Note:

By default, this measure reports the above-mentioned States while indicating the power state of each motherboard being managed. However, in the graph of this measure, states will be represented using their corresponding numeric equivalents only.

Graphics cards

Indicates the number of graphic cards present in the motherboard.

Number

More the number of components, more will be complexity of motherboard.

Memory arrays

Indicates the number of memory arrays present in the motherboard.

Number

Processors

Indicates the number of processors present in the motherboard.

Number

Storage controllers

Indicates the number of storage controllers present in the motherboard.

Number

Storage flex flash controllers

Indicates the number of storage flex flash controller present in the motherboard.
