Endpoint Performance Test
High network latencies, poor signal strength, or packet losses during transmission can cause significant slow-downs in the request processing capability of the target client desktop. Hence, monitoring latencies between the client desktop and individual client terminal is important.
Using this test, an administrator can identify high latencies and excessive packet drops experienced by the target client desktop. In some cases, a client desktop may regard a user session as active, even though the network link connecting the user terminal to the client desktop was disrupted and failed. The Endpoint Performance test alerts administrators to such situations. In addition, this test also reports the signal strength and quality of WiFi network accessed by the target client desktop.
Target of the test : A Microsoft Client Desktop
Agent deploying the test : An internal/remote agent
Outputs of the test : One set of outputs for the client desktop being monitored
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Test Period |
How often should the test be executed. |
Host |
The host for which the test is to be configured. |
Port |
Refers to the port at which the specified host listens to. By default, this is NULL. |
DD Frequency |
Refers to the frequency with which detailed diagnosis measures are to be generated for this test. For instance, if you set to 1:1, it means that detailed measures will be generated every time this test runs, and also every time the test detects a problem. |
Detailed Diagnosis |
To make diagnosis more efficient and accurate, the eG Enterprise embeds an optional detailed diagnostic capability. With this capability, the eG agents can be configured to run detailed, more elaborate tests as and when specific problems are detected. To enable the detailed diagnosis capability of this test for a particular server, choose the On option. To disable the capability, click on the Off option. The option to selectively enable/disable the detailed diagnosis capability will be available only if the following conditions are fulfilled:

Measurement | Description | Measurement Unit | Interpretation | ||||||||||||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Total devices connected to local router |
Indicates the number of devices connected to the local router to which the client desktop is connected to. |
Number |

||||||||||||||||||
Wi-Fi signal strength |
Indicates the signal strength of the WiFi network accessed by the client desktop. |
|
By default, the Endpoint Agent executes the netsh wlan show interface command on the client desktop to determine the WiFi signal strength and the quality of the signal. eG Enterprise determines the WiFi signal strength based on the signal quality range determined upon execution of the command. The table below indicates the values that this measure can report and their corresponding numeric equivalents along with the signal quality range:
Note: By default, this measure reports the above-mentioned Measure Values while indicating the Wi-Fi signal strength. However, in the graph of this measure, signal strength will be represented using the corresponding numeric equivalents only - i.e., 0 to 4. |
||||||||||||||||||
Wi-Fi signal quality |
Indicates the percentage of signal strength of the WiFi network accessed by the client desktop. |
Percent |
A high value is preferred for this measure. |
||||||||||||||||||
Local router latency |
Indicates the time taken by the local router to respond to the requests made by the client desktop. |
Milliseconds |
A high value is a cause for concern, as it indicates a potentially latent function. The detailed diagnosis of this measure reveals the IP address of the local router. |
||||||||||||||||||
Local router packet loss |
Indicates the percentage of packets lost during data exchange between the client desktop and the local router. |
Percent |
|
||||||||||||||||||
ISP latency |
Indicates the time taken by the ISP (Internet Service Provider) to respond to the requests made by the client desktop. |
Milliseconds |
A high value is a cause for concern, as it indicates a potentially latent function. The detailed diagnosis of this measure reveals the IP address of the Internet Service Provider. |
||||||||||||||||||
ISP packet loss |
Indicates the percentage of packets lost during data exchange between the client desktop and the ISP (Internet Service Provider). |

||||||||||||||||||
Internet latency |
Indicates how long the client desktop waited to get response from internet. |
Milliseconds |
A high value is a cause for concern, as it indicates a potentially latent function. |
