Monitoring DB2 Active-Passive Cluster

eG Enterprise provides a specialized DB2 Active-Passive Cluster monitoring model (see Figure 1).

Figure 1 : Layer Model for DB2 Active-Passive Cluster

Each layer of Figure 1 above is mapped to tests that report a variety of metrics revealing the availability, responsiveness, efficiency of locking and sorting activity, usage of disk space, and high availability status and much more! The sections to come will discuss the Db2 Cluster Status Test associated with DB2 Service layer. The tests pertaining to the DB2 Memory Structures, DB2 Server and DB2 Database Manager Layers have already been discussed in Monitoring IBM DB2 Server section. Using the metrics reported , administrators can find quick and accurate answers for the following performance questions:

  • Is the DB2 cluster experiencing frequent failovers?

  • How long has the DB2 cluster been running without interruption?

  • Is the cluster staying consistently active, or are there repeated downtimes?
