Monitoring Dell Wyse Thin Clients

eG Enterprise offers a specialized Dell Wyse Thin Clients model out-of-the-box, for monitoring the load, configuration, and usage of each Dell Wyse thin client in a target Dell Wyse Client Group component. The tests mapped to this component report metrics that have been collected from those Endpoint Agents that have been configured to communicate to the same Dell Wyse Client Group component - i.e., that have been configured with the same Dell Wyse Client Group component nick name. With the metrics reported by the model, administrators can find quick and accurate answers to the following:

  • Did any Dell Wyse thin client experience an unscheduled reboot recently?

  • Is any Dell Wyse thin client running out of disk, CPU or resources? Which application on the Dell Wyse thin client is draining the resources? Which user is accessing such applications?

  • Are TCP connects to any Dell Wyse thin client dropping frequently?

  • Is any Dell Wyse thin client experiencing an unusually high rate of TCP reransmissions?

  • Is any Dell Wyse thin client experiencing high rate of incoming/outgoing traffic through any network interface?

To access these metrics, do the following:

  1. Login to the eG monitoring console.

  2. Close the Current Alarms window that pops up to focus on the Monitor Dashboard.

  3. In the Components At-A-Glance section of the Monitor Dashboard, locate the bar graph representing the number of Dell Wyse Thin Clients that are being monitored and their current state.

  4. Click on a division (denoting a state) in the bar to know which Dell Wyse thin clients are in that particular state. If only one Dell Wyse Client Group component is managed, then the bar will represent the current state of that component alone. In this case, clicking on the bar will open Figure 2, displaying the Dell Wyse thin clients that are connected to the Dell Wyse Client Group component that you clicked on, and the health of each Dell Wyse thin client.

  5. Click on a Dell Wyse thin client listed in Endpoints column in Figure 2 to zoom into its performance.

  6. In Figure 3 that then appears, you will find an Endpoints drop-down that will display the Dell Wyse thin client that you clicked on in Figure 2. You can switch to any other Dell Wyse thin client by selecting that Dell Wyse thin client from the Endpoints drop-down. The metrics related to the chosen Dell Wyse thin client will then be displayed in the Measures tab page that appears below. These metrics will be organized and displayed in tab pages - one each for every layer. Use the links below to explore the tests mapped to each tab page and the measures reported by it.
