Monitoring Fujitsu Storage AF/DX
eG Enterprise provides a specialized Fujitsu Storage AF/DX model.
Figure 1 : Layer model for Fujitsu Storage AF/DX
Each layer in Figure 1 is mapped to tests that report metrics related to the Fujitsu Storage AF/DX. Using the metrics reported by this test, administrators can find accurate answers for the following performance queries:
-
Is the target storage system available? If no, then is it in Not Ready or Error or Maintenance or Warning state?
-
Is the target storage system upgraded?
-
Is any volume enabled with Advanced Copy feature lagging in performance measured by IOPS and throughput?
-
Is any volume taking too long to service read and write requests received from an external server/host?
-
Is any RAID group running short of storage space? Is any RAID group overly-utilized?
-
Is the workload (IOPS and throughput) of each Channel Adapter port and Remote Adapter port satisfactory? Is any port overloaded in terms of read/write throughput and IOPS?
-
Is any thin-provisioned storage pool under maintenance?
-
Is any thin-provisioned storage pool running out of storage space?
-
Is any volume within a LUN group in Broken or Exposed or Not Available state?
-
Is any disk exhibiting abnormal disk busy pattens?
-
Is any disk in Broken or Exposed or Not Available state?
-
Is any hardware component within a controller enclosure in Broken or Maintenance or Error state? If yes, which hardware component is frequently error-prone?
-
Is any disk within the drive enclosure in Broken or Not Available state?
Since the Network layer have already been dealt with in the Monitoring Windows and Unix Servers document, this chapter will discuss the other layers only.
