What is Gigamon Traffic Node?

The Gigamon Traffic Platform consists of several Traffic Nodes designed to provide visibility and control of network traffic across both physical and virtual environments. Gigamon's Traffic Platform includes multiple models of Traffic Nodes, each designed for different performance levels, traffic volumes, and networks. Traffic Nodes can be part of the GigaVUE H Series, as well as other models of Gigamon portfolio.

The Gigamon Traffic Node aggregates traffic from multiple sources (e.g., taps, SPAN ports) filters, deduplicates, or slices packets, and distributes network traffic without affecting production flow. Gigamon Traffic Nodes are widely used in data centers, Cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP with virtual nodes), Enterprise and carrier-grade networks, Security Operations Centers (SOCs) and Network Operations Centers (NOCs).

Why Monitor Gigamon Traffic Node?

The Gigamon Traffic Node plays a vital role in distributing the network traffic in various infrastructures and assures administrators of seamless network traffic flow. If the node starts malfunctioning suddenly due to CPU overload, insufficient memory, abnormal temperature, power supply malfunction or fans running at abnormal speed, the node will not be able to regulate the traffic to mission-critical services of an enterprise. This will cause irreparable damage to reputation and revenue of the enterprise. It is therefore imperative that the resource utilization and operations and temperature of core components of the Gigamon Traffic Node are monitored 24 x 7. This can be easily achieved using the specialized monitoring model offered by eG Enterprise.
