HPE StoreOnce Backup System Test
This test monitors the current state, overall health, and the storage capacity of the HPE StoreOnce Backup system. With the help of this test, administrators can be proactively alerted to potential failures / slowdowns / problematic conditions.
Target of the test : HPE StoreOnce Backup
Agent deploying the test : A remote agent
Outputs of the test : One set of results for the HPE StoreOnce Backup system that is being monitored.
Parameters | Description |
---|---|
Test Period |
How often should the test be executed. |
Host |
The host for which the test is to be configured. |
Port |
The port at which the host is listening. By default, this is set to Null. |
Username and Password |
By default, the eG agent executes REST APIs on the target HPE StoreOnce Backup system to collect the required metrics. For the eG agent to execute the REST APIs, a special user with user role is required. Specify the credentials of such a user in the Username and Password text boxes. |
Confirm Password |
Confirm the password by retyping it here. |
Timeout Seconds |
Specify the duration (in seconds) beyond which the test will timeout in this text box. The default value is 120 seconds. |
Service Set |
A service set is a collection of services such as Virtual Tape Library(VTL), Network Attached Storage(NAS), Replication and StoreOnce Catalyst. There is one instance of each service per service set. By default, the target HPE StoreOnce Backup system is associated with a service set. Therefore, the Service Set parameter is set to 1 by default. If you are monitoring multiple HPE Storeonce Backup systems in your environment, then, specify the exact number associated with the service set that is assigned to each HPE StoreOnce Backup system that is to be monitored. |
Detailed Diagnosis |
To make diagnosis more efficient and accurate, the eG Enterprise embeds an optional detailed diagnostic capability. With this capability, the eG agents can be configured to run detailed, more elaborate tests as and when specific problems are detected. To enable the detailed diagnosis capability of this test for a particular server, choose the On option. To disable the capability, click on the Off option. The option to selectively enable/disable the detailed diagnosis capability will be available only if the following conditions are fulfilled:
|
Measurement | Description | Measurement Unit | Interpretation | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Status |
Indicates the current status of the target backup system. |
|
The values that this measure can report and their corresponding numeric values are tabulated below:
Note: By default, this measure reports the above-mentioned Measure Values only. However, in the graph of this measure, the current status will be represented using the corresponding numeric equivalents only. The detailed diagnosis of this measure reveals the Alias, Serial Number, Software version, Deduplication ratio and details on the Primary and Secondary nodes. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Replication status |
Indicates replication status of the target backup system. |
|
The values that this measure can report and the states they indicate are tabulated below:
Note: By default, this measure reports the above-mentioned Measure Values only. However, in the graph of this measure, the replication status will be represented using the corresponding numeric equivalents only. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Overall status |
Indicates overall status of the target backup system. |
|
The values that this measure can report and the states they indicate are tabulated below:
Note: By default, this measure reports the above-mentioned Measure Values only. However, in the graph of this measure, the overall status will be represented using the corresponding numeric equivalents only. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Housekeeping status |
Indicates current housekeeping status of the target backup system. |
|
Housekeeping is an important process performed on the StoreOnce Backup system to maximize the deduplication efficiency. The values that this measure can report and the states they indicate are tabulated below:
Note: By default, this measure reports the above-mentioned Measure Values only. However, in the graph of this measure, the housekeeping status will be represented using the corresponding numeric equivalents only. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Health level |
Indicates the current health of the target backup system. |
|
The values that this measure can report and the states they indicate are tabulated below:
Note: By default, this measure reports the above-mentioned Measure Values while indicating the health. However, the graph of this measure will be represented using the corresponding numeric equivalents of the measure values as mentioned in the table above. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Replication health level |
Indicates the current replication health of the target backup system. |
|
The values that this measure can report and the states they indicate are tabulated below:

||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Capacity |
Indicates the total storage capacity of the target backup system. |
TB |
|
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Free |
Indicates the amount if storage available for use on the target backup system. |
TB |
Ideally, the value of this measure should be high. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Usage |
Indicates the percentage of storage that is utilized on the target backup system. |
Percent |
If the value of this measure close to 100, it means that the backup system is running out of storage. Also, it is a warning sign for administrators to add additional resources. |
