HPE StoreOnce Replication NAS Workload Test
In order to optimize bandwidth usage and throughput, minimize congestions, and maximize the replication speed, administrators need to constantly keep a vigil on how well replication is performed on the Network-attached storage (NAS). For this, administrators can use the HPE StoreOnce Replication NAS Workload test.
This test reports real-time metrics of the volume of data received by and transmitted from the NAS for replication per second. This test also throws light on the count of target replication job sessions and the source replication job sessions established on the NAS.
Target of the test : HPE StoreOnce Backup
Agent deploying the test : A remote agent
Outputs of the test : One set of results for the target HPE StoreOnce Backup system being monitored
Parameters | Description |
---|---|
Test Period |
How often should the test be executed. |
Host |
The host for which the test is to be configured. |
Port |
The port at which the host is listening. By default, this is set to Null. |
Username and Password |
By default, the eG agent executes REST APIs on the target HPE StoreOnce Backup system to collect the required metrics. For the eG agent to execute the REST APIs, a special user with user role is required. Specify the credentials of such a user in the Username and Password text boxes. |
Confirm Password |
Confirm the password by retyping it here. |
Timeout Seconds |
Specify the duration (in seconds) beyond which the test will timeout in this text box. The default value is 120 seconds. |
Service Set |
A service set is a collection of services such as Virtual Tape Library(VTL), Network Attached Storage(NAS), Replication and StoreOnce Catalyst. There is one instance of each service per service set. By default, the target HPE StoreOnce Backup system is associated with a service set. Therefore, the Service Set parameter is set to 1 by default. If you are monitoring multiple HPE Storeonce Backup systems in your environment, then, specify the exact number associated with the service set that is assigned to each HPE StoreOnce Backup system that is to be monitored. |
Measurement | Description | Measurement Unit | Interpretation |
---|---|---|---|
Average copy job received bandwidth |
Indicates the rate at which actual data (deduplicated data and meta data ) was received by the NAS for replication during the last measurement period. |
MB/sec |
Any attempt made to transmit or receive traffic faster than the allotted bandwidth can result in congestion. Therefore, administrators should ensure that just about enough data is transmitted and received by the NAS to prevent congestion and optimize throughput.
|
Average copy job transmitted bandwidth |
Indicates the rate at which actual data (deduplicated data and meta data) was transmitted for the replication of the NAS during the last measurement period. |
MB/sec |
|
Average copy job received throughput |
Indicates the rate at which apparent data was received by the NAS for replication during the last measurement period. |
