Hardware Monitoring using iDRAC

The Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC) is designed for secure local and remote server management and helps IT administrators deploy, update and monitor PowerEdge servers anywhere, anytime.

iDRAC offers:

  • iDRAC9 Telemetry Streaming

  • Secured Component Verification

  • iDRAC RESTFul API with Redfish support

  • Agent-free embedded server management

iDRAC allows you to do the following:

  • Monitor server health. iDRAC monitors temperature in the server and sends corrective signals to the cooling units to maintain proper server cooling. iDRAC also monitors the status of battery, memory, the network, processors, power supplies, and system health.
  • Perform firmware and BIOS updates remotely, without needing to boot into the OS thus helping in routine maintenance as well as patching vulnerabilities.

eG Enterprise offers an exclusive Dell Hardware - IDRAC monitoring model. The eG agent communicates with the iDRAC and collects the necessary hardware status information . Every component monitored by eG Enterprise is represented as a set of hierarchical layers, with every layer mapped to a logical group of tests that are executed on the component. The layer model of the Dell Hardware - IDRAC too groups a series of tests that help administrators obtain useful hardware insights.
