How does eG Enterprise Monitor Network Path?

eG Enterprise monitors network path using eG external agent. All that is required for this is an eG agent that needs to be deployed on a remote Windows host in the environment. To monitor the network path, the following pre-requisites need to be fulfilled:

  • Using tracetcp, the users will be able to trace the TCP connection between the source and destination which traverses through many hops and this can be achieved using tracetcp.exe file. From this trace, the user can observe between which specific hops, the communication may be delayed. By default, the tracetcp.exe file is bundled in the eG agent: /eGurkha/lib. If the exe file is not available in this location, the administrators need to download it from https://simulatedsimian.github.io/tracetcp_download.html and paste it in this location.

  • Install Npcap.exe file on the host (where the eG agent is installed) to collect the required metrics by tracing the network path.
