What is OLVM Manager 4.x?

Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM) 4.x is a centralized, web-based management platform used to administer Oracle Linux–based virtualized environments. Built on the open-source oVirt framework, OLVM Manager provides a single control plane for managing virtual machines, virtualization hosts, storage resources, and networking across the infrastructure. OLVM Manager operates as a dedicated management server that communicates with Oracle Linux KVM hosts using secure management agents. It maintains configuration data, orchestrates virtualization operations, enforces policies, and exposes management functionality through a web interface and REST APIs. All administrative actions, such as VM lifecycle management, resource allocation, and availability enforcement, are coordinated centrally through the OLVM Manager.

Key Features of OLVM Manager 4.x:

  • Centralized management of KVM-based virtualization environments

  • Web-based administrative console and REST API access

  • Support for live migration and high availability

  • Integrated storage and network management

  • Role-based access control and policy enforcement

  • Event tracking and operational monitoring hooks

OLVM Manager enables administrators to centrally manage virtual machines and virtualization hosts, including provisioning, lifecycle operations, and live migration. It also supports configuration and control of storage, networking, high availability, scheduling, and resource allocation policies, while providing visibility into infrastructure health and operational events.
