Monitoring the Panzura Cloud File System

The eG enterprise offers a specialized Panzura Cloud File system monitoring model that helps adminsitrators to reduce data availability risk by promptly tracking and alerting performance flaws of the cloud controller beforehand.

Figure 1 depicts the layer model of a Panzura Cloud File system.

Figure 1 : Layer model for Panzura Cloud File System

Every layer in the Figure 1 is mapped to various tests to determine the critical statistics related to the performance of the target Panzura Cloud File System. Using the metrics reported by the tests, administrators can find accurate answers for the following performance queries:

  • Is the CPU usage of the appliance too high?

  • Is the available harddisk space in the appliance is too low ? If so, what is the percentage of disk space utilization?

  • How well the target cloud controller uses the available memory? Is there suffiecient free memory available for use?

  • Is there sufficient cloud storage avilable for the target appliance? If the available free space is too low, then what is the percentage of space utilization?

  • How many metadata, out of the total metadata connected to the cloud controller, is used?

  • Are the number of upload and download failures of files to/from the cloud too high?

  • Is the number of cache misses with pinned and auto-cached data too high?

  • Is the number of data eviction high?

  • Are there too many SMB users connected to the cloud controller? Ifso, then how many users are currently connected to the controller?

  • How many files are locked by the SMB users connected to the cloud controller?
