BODS Webservice Status Test

SAP BusinessObjects Data Services (BODS) is a data integration and transformation tool that allows you to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources into a target system, such as a data warehouse or database. All the features of BODS are available through BODS Data Services. BODS webservice allows for BODS integration with other applications and allows for number of automation opportunities. In typical production environments webservices are extensively used to execute jobs, kick off data flows, management, monitoring etc. activities. That is the primary reason to monitor webservice to ensure it is running and available for clients to use.

This test monitors webservice status and reports if the webservice is not active, so that administrators can take an action before the problem is reported by clients.

Target of the test : A SAP BODS Node

Agent deploying the test : An internal/remote agent

Outputs of the test : One set of result for the BODS node being monitored.

Configurable parameters for the test

Parameter	Description
Test period	How often should the test be executed.
Host	Host name of the server for which the test is to be configured.
Port	Enter the port to which the specified host listens. This should be the port at which the web application server hosting SAP BODS listens.
CMS System	Specify the URL of Central Management System.
Username & Password	Specify the credential of user created for BODs monitoring. The user should have been granted Monitoring role.
Confirm Password	Confirm the password by retyping it here.
Web Service Port	Specify the port at which BODS webservice is running.
Long Running Cut off	Specify the cutoff duration in seconds beyond which a job is considered a long running job.
Scan Period (HRS)	Specify the duration in hours within which eG agent should look for jobs that have started. By default this is set at 24 hours.

Measurements made by the test

Is Active	Indicates whether the webservice is available.		This measure signifies whether the webservice is being used by the user or not. This helps track webservice usage. The numeric values that correspond to these measure values are as follows: Connection State Numeric Value Yes 0 No 1 Note: By default, this measure reports the Measure Values listed in the table above to indicate the Connection Status. In the graph of this measure however, the same is indicated using the numeric equivalents only.
