Network Errors Test
This test reports the network errors and collisions that occur during data transmission and reception by a host via each of its network interfaces.
This test is disabled by default. To enable the test, go to the enable / disable tests page using the menu sequence : Agents -> Tests -> Enable/Disable, pick the desired Component type, set Performance as the Test type, choose the test from the DISABLED TESTS list, and click on the << button to move the test to the ENABLED TESTS list. Finally, click the Update button.
Target of the test : Any host system
Agent deploying the test : An internal agent
Outputs of the test : One set of results for every network interface of the target host
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Test Period |
How often should the test be executed. |
Host |
The host for which the test is to be configured. |
Measurement | Description | Measurement Unit | Interpretation |
---|---|---|---|
Incoming packet errors: |
Indicates the number of input errors that occurred during the last measurement period. |
Packets |
High input errors could indicate that the network is saturated, the local host is overloaded, or there is a physical network problem. |
Outgoing packet errors: |
Indicates the number of output errors that occurred during the last measurement period. |
Packets |
High output errors could indicate a saturated local network or a bad physical connection between the host and the network. |
Packet collisions: |
Indicates the number of collisions that occurred during the last measurement period. |
Number |
A high value is normal for this measure, but if the percentage of output packets that result in a collision is too high, it indicates that the network is saturated. |
