Chat Operations Test
Google Chat is a real-time messaging and collaboration tool by Google Workspace, designed for teams, businesses, and organizations to communicate efficiently. It allows individuals and teams to communicate, share files, and work together efficiently. It integrates seamlessly with Google Workspace apps and works through direct messages, group chats, and spaces. This is why, its been widely used for secure and efficient messaging for businesses, schools, and individuals. However, any slowdowns or failures in Google chat service will have a negative impact on user experience. When messages take too long to send, receive, update or delete, it can cause miscommunication and workflow disruptions. Failed message delivery leads to missed instructions, forgotten tasks, etc. Space creation failures or lag can slow down collaborations thereby breaking workflow. If user creation fails or takes too long, it can lead to delayed access to new users. All these issues can lead to loss of productivity, poor user experience, adverse impacts on business, and collaboration breakdowns. This is where this test can help you.
This test tracks any failures or slowdowns on Google Chat operations. These critical metrics helps administrators to proactively remediate the issues before it affects the user experience.

Outputs of the test : One set of results for the Google Workspace monitored.
| Parameters | Description |
|---|---|
Test Period |
How often should the test be executed. |
Host |
The host for which the test is to be configured. |
Proxy Host, Proxy Port |
In some environments, all communication with the Google Workspace be routed through a proxy server. In such environments, you should make sure that the eG agent connects to the cloud via the proxy server and collects metrics. To enable metrics collection via a proxy, specify the IP address of the proxy server and the port at which the server listens against the Proxy Host and Proxy Port parameters. By default, these parameters are set to none, indicating that the eG agent is not configured to communicate via a proxy, by default. |
Proxy Username, Proxy Password and Confirm Password |
If the proxy server requires authentication, then, specify a valid proxy user name and password in the Proxy Username and Proxy Password parameters, respectively. Then, confirm the password by retyping it in the Confirm Password text box. |
User Email |
Specify the email ID of the simulation user that the eG agent uses to collect metrics from Google Workspace services. To know how to create such a user, refer Creating a Simulation User on Google Workspace. |
Enable Debug |
If this flag is set to Yes, the eG agent will run in debug mode, enabling error logging. By default, this flag is set to No. |
DD Frequency |
Refers to the frequency with which detailed diagnosis measures are to be generated for this test. The default is 1:1. This indicates that, by default, detailed measures will be generated every time this test runs, and also every time the test detects a problem. You can modify this frequency, if you so desire. Also, if you intend to disable the detailed diagnosis capability for this test, you can do so by specifying none against DD frequency. |

Measurement |
Description |
Measurement Unit |
Interpretation |

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Space creation status |
Indicates whether/not the space creation in Google chat was successful. |
If this measure reports the value Success, it means that the space was successfully created. On the other hand, if this measure reports the value Failed, it implies that the space creation failed. The numeric values that correspond to these measure values are as follows:
Note: By default, this measure reports the Measure Values listed in the table above to indicate the space creation status. In the graph of this measure however, the same is indicated using the numeric equivalents only. A space in Google Chat is a specific group where users can collaborate, share files, and have threaded conversations.Within an organization., spaces are helpful for for teams, projects, or discussions. If space creation in Google Chat fails, it could be due to admin restrictions, network problems, or Google service outage. |
Space creation time |
Indicates the time taken to create space. |
Seconds |
A low value is desired for this measure. If the value of this measure is too high, that indicates space creation in Google chat is slow. this can be due to netwrok issues, high server load, or service outage. |
User creation status |
Indicates whether/not user was succesfully created in Google Chat. |
If this measure reports the value Success, it means that the user was successfully created. On the other hand, if this measure reports the value Failed, it implies that the user creation failed. The numeric values that correspond to these measure values are as follows:
Note: By default, this measure reports the Measure Values listed in the table above to indicate the user creation status. In the graph of this measure however, the same is indicated using the numeric equivalents only. If user creation in Google Chat fails, it could be due to admin restrictions, insufficient permissions, account issues, network or browser problems, service outage, etc. |
User creation time |
Indicates the time taken to create a user in Google Chat. |
Seconds |
When user creation time is too high in Google Chat, it can cause delayed access for new users, communication breakdowns, and workflow disruptions. |
Message sent status |
Indicates whether/not message was succesfully send in Google Chat. |
If this measure reports the value Success, it means that the message was successfully sent. On the other hand, if this measure reports the value Failed, it implies that the message sending failed. The numeric values that correspond to these measure values are as follows:
Note: By default, this measure reports the Measure Values listed in the table above to indicate the message sent status. In the graph of this measure however, the same is indicated using the numeric equivalents only. When a message fails to send in Google Chat, it can lead to communication delays, workflow disruptions, loss of important conversations and missed updates. |
Message sent time |
Indicates the time taken to send the message in Google Chat. |
Seconds |
If messages in Google Chat take too long to send, it may be due to network problems, high server load, high CPU/memory usage on your device, or browser/app problems. If the value of this measure is too high, then it can lead to delayed communication, workflow disruptions, delayed response time, missed conversations, resending errors and miscommunications, etc. |
Message updation status |
Indicates whether/not message was succesfully updated in Google Chat. |
If this measure reports the value Success, it means that the message was successfully updated. On the other hand, if this measure reports the value Failed, it implies that the message updation failed. The numeric values that correspond to these measure values are as follows:
Note: By default, this measure reports the Measure Values listed in the table above to indicate the message updation status. In the graph of this measure however, the same is indicated using the numeric equivalents only. If you are unable update a message in Google Chat, it could be due to network issues, permission problems, service restrcitions, server, browser, or app issues, etc. |
