Student Operations Test
Google Classroom is a free online learning management system (LMS) developed by Google for schools, businesses, and individual educators. It helps teachers create courses, distribute assignments, and communicate with students. It integrates with Google Workspace tools like Drive, Docs, Meet, and Calendar to streamline digital learning and collaboration. Students can enroll in courses, join the classes and access materials, assignments and announcements made by the teachers. However, if the courses are not accessible or the time taken to load the list of available courses is too high, that can cause the students to lose access to the courses. This inturn can lead to lose of trust and credibility of the service. The Student Operations Test helps you with this.
This test helps to identify if courses are not accessible or the course list is taking too much time load. This way, administrators can be promptly alerted if any course is unaccessible to the students ahead of time. Thereby, they can take relevant actions before the issue becomes too severe and impact the user experience.
Target of the test : Google Workspace
Agent deploying the test : An external agent
Outputs of the test : One set of results for the Google Workspace monitored.
| Parameters | Description |
|---|---|
|
Test Period |
How often should the test be executed. |
|
Host |
The host for which the test is to be configured. |
|
Proxy Host, Proxy Port |
In some environments, all communication with the Google Workspace be routed through a proxy server. In such environments, you should make sure that the eG agent connects to the cloud via the proxy server and collects metrics. To enable metrics collection via a proxy, specify the IP address of the proxy server and the port at which the server listens against the Proxy Host and Proxy Port parameters. By default, these parameters are set to none, indicating that the eG agent is not configured to communicate via a proxy, by default. |
|
Proxy Username, Proxy Password and Confirm Password |
If the proxy server requires authentication, then, specify a valid proxy user name and password in the Proxy Username and Proxy Password parameters, respectively. Then, confirm the password by retyping it in the Confirm Password text box. |
|
Classroom Owner Email |
Specify the email ID of simulation user who is also a Classroom Owner/Teacher in this text box. To know how to create a user. refer Creating a Simulation User on Google Workspace |
|
Student Email |
Specify the email ID of the simulation user that the eG agent uses to collect metrics from Google Workspace services. This simulation user imitates the interactions of a student to determine the accessibility of the courses. To know how to create such a user, refer Creating a Simulation User on Google Workspace. |
|
Enable Debug |
If this flag is set to Yes, the eG agent will run in debug mode, enabling error logging. By default, this flag is set to No. |
|
DD Frequency |
Refers to the frequency with which detailed diagnosis measures are to be generated for this test. The default is 1:1. This indicates that, by default, detailed measures will be generated every time this test runs, and also every time the test detects a problem. You can modify this frequency, if you so desire. Also, if you intend to disable the detailed diagnosis capability for this test, you can do so by specifying none against DD frequency. |

|
Course availability status |
Indicates whether/not a course in Google Classroom is available. |
|
If this measure reports the value Success, it means that the course is accessible to students. On the other hand, if this measure reports the value Failed, it implies that the course is not accessible to students. The numeric values that correspond to these measure values are as follows:
Note: By default, this measure reports the Measure Values listed in the table above to indicate whethe/not a course is available. In the graph of this measure however, the same is indicated using the numeric equivalents only. |

|
Course list time |
Indicates the time taken to load the list of available courses. |
Seconds |
An excessively long course list time can cause students to lose access, which can impact classroom management and productivity. This problem could arise when courses are loaded directly into Google Classroom or when data is retrieved using the Google Classroom API. |
