How does eG Enterprise monitor the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Load Balancer?

eG Enterprise cannot automatically discover the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Load Balancer. eG Enterprise is capable of monitoring the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Load Balancer in agentless manner only - i.e., using an eG remote agent deployed on a remote host in the environment.

In order to collect metrics, the eG remote agent does the following:

  • Communicates with the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and pulls metrics by making  REST API calls;

  • Reads from logs

To enable the eG agent to perform the above, you need to make sure that the requirements detailed in thePre-requisites for Monitoring Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Load Balancertopic are fulfilled.

With the help of the metrics collected:

  • Administrators can detect, diagnose, and resolve performance deficiencies in the cloud environment, well before they impact the experience of cloud consumers;

  • Cloud providers can closely monitor the cloud services and resources, so they can plan resource allocations and set resource quotas accordingly; this way, the cloud service providers can ensure that user requests do not get throttled for want of additional resources;
