Agent Status - AVD Test
Each session host has an Azure Virtual Desktop agent, which registers the VM as part of the Azure Virtual Desktop service framework. The agent acts as the intermediate communicator between the service and the virtual machines, enabling connectivity. If an agent is unable to register with the service, then the corresponding VM will not be able to connect to the service. This is why, it is important that administrators are promptly alerted to issues in agent registration. With the help of the Agent Status - AVD test, administrators can receive such important problem notifications promptly! This test periodically checks whether the agent on a chosen session host / AVD is registered with the service; if not, an alert to this effect is sent out to the administrator.
Target of the test : AnAzure Virtual Desktop
Agent deploying the test : An internal agent
Outputs of the test : One set of results for the chosen Session Host / Azure Virtual Desktop
Parameters | Description |
---|---|
Test period |
This indicates how often should the test be executed. |
Host |
The host for which the test is to be configured. |
Port |
The default port is NULL. |
DD Frequency |
Refers to the frequency with which detailed diagnosis measures are to be generated for this test. The default is 6:1. This indicates that, by default, detailed measures will be generated every sixth time this test runs, and also every time the test detects a problem. You can modify this frequency, if you so desire. Also, if you intend to disable the detailed diagnosis capability for this test, you can do so by specifying none against DD Frequency. |
Detailed Diagnosis |
To make diagnosis more efficient and accurate, the eG Enterprise embeds an optional detailed diagnostic capability. With this capability, the eG agents can be configured to run detailed, more elaborate tests as and when specific problems are detected. To enable the detailed diagnosis capability of this test for a particular server, choose the On option. To disable the capability, click on the Off option. The option to selectively enable/disable the detailed diagnosis capability will be available only if the following conditions are fulfilled:

Measurement | Description | Measurement Unit | Interpretation | ||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Is AVD registered? |
Indicates whether/not this session host is registered with the Azure Virtual Desktop service framework. |
|
This measure reports the value Yes, if the AVD is registered with the service, and No if it is not registered. The numeric values that correspond to these measure values are as follows:
Note: By default, this measure reports the Measure Values listed in the table above to indicate whether/not a session host is registered with the AVD service. In the graph of this measure however, the same is indicated using the corresponding numeric equivalents only. Use the detailed diagnosis of this measure to know more about the session host. |

|
Indicates whether this session host establishes a direct UDP-based transport to the Remote Desktop Client, or a TCP-based transport. |
|
RDP Shortpath for managed networks is a feature of Azure Virtual Desktop that establishes a direct UDP-based transport between Remote Desktop Client and Session host. RDP uses this transport to deliver Remote Desktop and RemoteApp while offering better reliability and consistent latency. If the session host uses the RDP Shortpath to connect to a remote desktop client, this measure will report the value UDP. If the RDP Shortpath feature is not used, then this measure will report the value TCP. The numeric values that correspond to these measure values are as follows:
Note: By default, this measure reports the Measure Values listed in the table above to indicate whether the session host uses TCP or UDP to connect to a Remote Client. In the graph of this measure however, the same is indicated using the corresponding numeric equivalents only. |
The detailed diagnosis of the Is AVD registered? measure reveals the subscription ID of the session host, the tenant to which the session host is attached, the host pool to which it belongs, the resource group of the host, its shortpath, and the port at which the host listens.
