NVIDIA Health Check Test

NVIDIA License files obtained from the NVIDIA Licensing Portal are stored either in the target NVIDIA License server or in a trusted storage database to which the license server is connected with. The NVIDIA License server automatically backs up the trusted storage database after every 1,000 license checkouts or after every five-minute interval in which a change has taken place, whichever event occurs first. The license server reads the database and serves the license files when a user requests for licenses via the license server management interface. By default, the license server management interface connects to the license server over HTTP protocol. To prevent any kind of malicious threats to the licenses served over the HTTP connection, administrators enable security on the license server and secure the connection with specific credentials. This way, only the users with adequate privileges will be given access to the license server and get licenses for their NVIDIA vGPU software licensed products. If the license server is unable to serve the licenses due to the database connection failures or breach of security measures, then the users may be denied access to their NVIDIA vGPU software licensed products. In such circumstances, administrators may want to quickly check what is stalling the operations of the target license server. This check can be easily done using the NVIDIA Health Check test.

This test monitors the target license server and instantly reports connection failure, if any, between the license server and the database. This test also reveals whether/not security feature is enabled on the license server. Using the measure reported by this test, administrators can instantly find out whether/not the license server is HTTP authentication-enabled.

Target of the test : A NVIDIA License Server

Agent deploying the test : An internal agent

Outputs of the test : One set of results is reported for the target NVIDIA license server.

Configurable parameters for the test
Parameter Description

Test Period

How often should the test be executed. By default, the Test Period is set to 5 minutes.

Host

The host for which the test is to be configured.

Port

Refers to the port used by the NVIDIA License server.

SSL

By default, the SSL flag is set to No indicating that the NVIDIA License server is not SSL-enabled and communicates with the eG agent via HTTP connection. However, you can set the SSL flag to Yes if the NVIDIA License server is SSL-enabled. Doing so will enable the eG agent to communicate with the license server via HTTPS.

Measurements made by the test
Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation

Database connection status

Indicates the current connection status between the license server and the database.

The values that this measure reports and their corresponding numeric values are:

Measure Value Numeric Value
Failure 0
Success 100

Note:

By default, this measure reports the values Failure or Success while indicating the current connection status between the license server and the database. However, the graph of this measure will represent the same using the corresponding numeric equivalents alone.

Is security enabled?

Indicates whether/not security is enabled on the license server.

The values that this measure reports and their corresponding numeric values are:

Measure Value Numeric Value
No 0
Yes 1

Note:

By default, this measure reports the values Yes or No while indicating whether the security is enabled on the license server. However, the graph of this measure will represent the same using the corresponding numeric equivalents alone.

Is HTTP authentication enabled?

Indicates whether/not HTTP authentication is enabled on the license server.

By default, the license server management interface connects to the license server over the HTTP protocol. This connection is for communications between two processes that are running on the same host machine. For increased security, administrators create the credentials to allow users to access the license server via the license server management interface and .

The values that this measure reports and their corresponding numeric values are:

Measure Value Numeric Value
No 0
Yes 1

Note:

By default, this measure reports the values Yes or No while indicating whether the HTTP authentication is enabled on the license server or not. However, the graph of this measure will represent the same using the corresponding numeric equivalents alone.
