Infoblox Database Test
Infoblox services depend on real-time data access from its internal database. If the database becomes corrupted or overloaded, core services like DNS/DHCP can fail, disrupting network access. Tracking database size and growth rate helps plan for future scaling or upgrades before running into resource limits. Infoblox Database Test helps in this regard!
This test tracks the object capacity usage of the database in the target Infoblox appliance, and alerts the administrator when the appliance is approaching or exceeding its licensed object limit.
Target of the test : An Infoblox appliance
Agent deploying the test : An external agent
Outputs of the test : One set of results for the Infoblox appliance that is to be monitored.
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
|
Test Period |
How often should the test be executed. |
|
Host |

Detailed Diagnosis |
To make diagnosis more efficient and accurate, the eG Enterprise embeds an optional detailed diagnostic capability. With this capability, the eG agents can be configured to run detailed, more elaborate tests as and when specific problems are detected. To enable the detailed diagnosis capability of this test for a particular server, choose the On option. To disable the capability, click on the Off option. The option to selectively enable/disable the detailed diagnosis capability will be available only if the following conditions are fulfilled:
|
| Measurement | Description | Measurement Unit | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|---|
|
Object capacity |
Indicates the maximum number of specific objects that a particular Infoblox appliance or virtual instance can manage or store in its database. |
Number |
|
|
Total objects |
Indicates the total count of all managed database objects on the appliance or in the Grid. |
Number |
Use the detailed diagnosis of this measure to find out the number of objects stored, the area in which the objects are stored, and the type of the object. |
|
Capacity usage |
Indicates the percentage of licensed object capacity currently in use on the appliance. |
Percent |
A high value of this measure means that the appliance is approaching or exceeding its licensed object limit. This can cause serious operational issues if not addressed. |
