Solace Disks Test
A PubSub+ comes with two disk drives pre-installed in drive bays or four system drive bays (depending on the model of the PubSub+) that are accessible from the front of the appliance. The disk drives are pre-configured as a RAID 1 array. In some models, the drives are fully hot swappable, which allows you to remove and install a disk drive without powering down the appliance or removing it from its rack.
This test auto-discovers the disk drives/file systems mounted on mount points and for each disk drive/file system mounted on the mount point, reports the space utilization. Using this test, administrators can figure out the disk drives mounted on the mount points that are running out of space.
Target of the test : A Solace PubSub+ Event Broker
Agent deploying the test : A remote agent
Outputs of the test : One set of results for each File System (disk drive) mounted on each mount point on the target Solace PubSub+ Event Broker being monitored
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Test Period |
How often should the test be executed. |
Host |
The IP address of the target host for which this test is to be configured. |
Port |
Refers to the port at which the Solace PubSub+ Event Broker listens to. |
UserName and Password |
By default, the eG agent executes SEMP ( Solace Element Management Protocol) APIs on the target broker to collect the required metrics. For the eG agent to execute the SEMP APIs, a special user with read only privilege is required. Specify the credentials of such a user in the UserName and Password text boxes. To know how to create such a user, refer to Creating a New User for Monitoring Solace PubSub+ Event Broker. |
Confirm Password |
Confirm the Password by retyping it in the Confirm Password text box. |
SSL |
By default, this flag is set to No indicating that the Solace PubSub+ Event Broker is not SSL-enabled by default. Set this flag to Yes if the Solace PubSub+ Event Broker is SSL-enabled. |
Measurement | Description | Measurement Unit | Interpretation |
---|---|---|---|
Total Space |
Indicates the total space allocated to the disk drive mounted on this mount point. |
GB |
|
Used space |
Indicates the amount of space utilized by the disk drive mounted on this mount point. |
GB |
Ideally, the value of this measure should be low. If this value grows close to that of the Total Space measure, then you may consider adding more storage space to the disk drive, or free up the space in the disk drive by deleting unnecessary data. Compare the value of this measure across disk drives/file systems mounted on the mount points to identify the disk drive/file system that is running out of space. |
Free space |
Indicates the amount of space that is available for use in the disk drive mounted on this mount point. |
GB |
A high value is desired for this measure. A sharp/consistent decrease in the value of this measure is an indication for the administrators to add more free space to the disk drive mounted on the mount point before the disk drive runs out of free space. |
Disk utilization |
Indicates the percentage of space utilized by the disk drives mounted on this mount point. |
Percent |
A value close to 100% indicates that the disk drive is currently running out of space. |
